Among the several international-standard golf courses in the state are Nilai Springs Golf & Country Club, located in a tranquil country setting between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban. Staffield Country Resort, about 45 minute drive from Kuala Lumpur, ranks among the best greens in the country, while Tuanku Jaafar Golf & Country Club, along the Seremban-Tampin trunk road, poses a unique challenge with more than 90 sand traps.

All these courses are 27-hole plays. Other golf courses include seaside greens and a royal course at Sri Menanti.

Nilai Springs Golf & Country Club

Nestled in the tranquil countryside about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur is this magnificent 27-hole golf course. A perfect combination of three nines (Mango, Island and Pines) and its natural surroundings, it bears the stamp of a truly great golf course. You will find the 9th hole (Mango Nine), 17th hole (Island Nine) and 22nd hole (Pines Nine) particularly challenging and interesting. On the 17th hole, you may attempt two on the green surrounded by water or decide to play conservatively with three on the green. The well maintained Bermuda Fairways and Tifdwarf greens are some of the excellent features that make a golf game in Nilai Springs truly memorable.

From Kuala Lumpur, head southwards on the North-South Expressway and turn off at the Nilai toll.

Staffield Country Resort

Freely regarded by golfing aficionados as one of the best courses in Malaysia , Staffield's 27-hole course comprising the North, South and West nines offers a quality golfing experience in a class of its own. The three nines are similar in character but have a distinctively different feel when played. A former 335-acre rubber estate was transformed into this 27-hole course that offers immense variety. The championship 18 has 82 bunkers and seven lakes, enough to challenge even the bravest.

Bermuda Tifway grass covers the fairways whilst Bermuda Tifdwarf is used for the greens.

Getting There

From Kuala Lumpur, take the old trunk road to Seremban, passing through Kajang, Semenyih and Beranang - a leisurely drive all the way with peaceful rural scenes. The club is on the right hand side. The drive takes about 45 minutes.

Alternatively, you may take the North-South Expressway and turn off at the Nilai toll.

Tuanku Jaafar Golf & Country Club

Golfers of all levels will find the 27-hole international standard layout a unique experience. Although there are more than 90 sand traps around the course, water hazards are few and far between. However, the latter still play a part in punishing errant shots.

Surrounded by lush tropical forest and stretching across some 400 acres of undulating terrain, this scenic course offers endless challenges. One of the more interesting holes is the par 5,560 yard 10th, the longest on the course. From the championship tee, it is a long carry over water to the fairway.

Tifway is used for the fairways whilst Tifdwarf is used for the greens. The course is situated along the Seremban-Tampin trunk road and the journey takes about 20 minutes.
