LABUAN MARINE PARK - ACTIVITIES
Sea Snake Watching
Just a five minute boat ride from Pulau Kuraman and just
off Labuan, is a little reef atoll which is home to hundreds
of sea snakes. The most commonly seen is the Sea Krait. Their
distinctive black and white markings make them a beautiful
and dramatic sight. But be careful as these beautiful sea
creatures are poisonous.
Kayaking
Kayaking is a great way to explore the marine park around
Labuan. At Pulau Kuraman, kayaking around the island can be
a great experience, without being too tiring.
Beachcombing
You will find many beautiful and secluded beaches around
Pulau Kuraman, Pulau Rusukan Besar and Pulau Rusukan Kecil.
Dinghy Sailing
The park is sheltered from rough seas, but with a good,
constant off-shore wind that is perfect for sailing, there
are plenty of sailing opportunities, both for novices and
advanced sailors. For the more adventurous, dinghy charters
and snorkel trip charters in shallow waters can also be arranged
through local tour operators.
Snorkelling
The park is surrounded by fringing coral reefs, which
makes it a veritable snorkeler's paradise. No reef is unreachable
or off-limits.
Scuba Diving
There are many spectacular scuba dive sites. Labuan Marine
Park is for eco-friendly divers only.
Windsurfing
Kuraman Bay, on the windward shore of Kuraman Island,
has consistent on-shore winds. The bay is perfect for beginner
windsurfers. Advanced windsurfers can go to the pounding surf
just beyond the mouth of the bay.
