On
the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Terengganu's rich traditional
culture, largely intact and in tandem with the modern world,
makes this the most charming Malaysian state.
Well-known for handicrafts, and a laid-back approach to life,
Terengganu has always attracted long-term tourists. Some even
stay for weeks, refining their batik-painting techniques or
exploring traditional dance forms.
Or try one of the exceptional resorts such as the Tanjung
Jara Resort or the Aryani Resort - both have exceptional services
and facilities.
Perhentian Island
Perhentian means 'stopover' in Malay. But, you may need more
than a stopover on this pair of captivating islands. Some
21km off the coast of Terengganu, it comprises the islands
of Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil.
Covered by virgin jungle, powdery white beaches and surrounded
by sapphire-blue waters, the island is made for idyllic holidays.
